Subjects emit heat from their bodies and activity sensors detect the heat as an infrared ray. Every time the subject moves, the sensors register the movement and count the amount of activity. In this system, sensors only need to be positioned above the cage, so any existing cages can be used. By using the software, time series data can automatically be saved as text files.
